January 2024: Twenty-eight-year-old Melvina is a single mother of four children surviving on a subsistence farming income.  Her children’s father left the family two years ago in search of work in another county.  He has not returned, and Melvina heard he is critically ill.  With spunk and creativity on her side, Melvina does subsistence farming and buying wholesale charcoal and selling it retail.  Melvina’s dream is to sustain the continuous school enrollment of all her children.  She asked for a farming supplies package to replace her worn out farming tools.
