January 2024: Kou is a seventy-year-old great grandmother living with her husband, adult children, grandchildren and other extended family members.  Hers is a subsistence farming family household.  Her husband is sick and can no longer work.  Kou’s age prohibits her from sustaining the labor-intensive activities required for subsistence farming.  Kou requested for (and was granted) a farming supplies package so she can barter with other farmers to assist with her farming activities.
